12th and 13th – The II AmaZonArt Summer Festival: Solidarity is Culture

AmaZonArt dedicates itself to music education aimed at promoting social transformation and cultural exchange as well as a novel kind of music-making, which is based on solidarity and kinship. Funds raised at AmaZonArt are used to promote musical education, conceived as a uniquely effective educational means to achieve social transformation, in less affluent areas in the Brazilian Amazon. It inspires youth awarding a sense of purpose and future achievement in all areas of their lives. This summer, AmaZonArt will be celebrating solidarity through arts across borders as well as highlighting the main areas of activity that AmaZonArt at its Second AmaZonArt Summer Festival: Solidarity is Culture both in Brazil and England, UK on 12th and 13th July 2013 at various venues.

All AmaZonArt concerts are free but a donation of £7/10 is most welcome as it will help to fund our projects in Brazil.

 

Friday 12th July, 7.30pm AmaZonArt Cello Ensemble Performs Bachianas Brasileiras by Villa-Lobos An evening dedicated to one of the most outstanding 20th century Brazilian musical geniuses, Heitor Villa-Lobos. Featuring Italian sopranoMaya Sapone, Brazilian cellist and conductor Diego Carneiro and Nadia Kerecuk, intellectual historian, will give an illustrated mini-lecture onVilla-Lobos. The evening will also include a new composition by British composer and cellist Ivan Hussey. Venue: Bolívar Hall, The Venezuelan Embassy, 54-56 Grafton Way, London W1T 5DL  

Saturday 13th July, 7.30pm AmaZonArt String Ensemble Perform Brazilian and European Music A concert in aid of “Arvore Fraterna” Project in Northeast Brazil. Venue: Bolívar Hall, The Venezuelan Embassy, 54-56 Grafton Way, London W1T 5DL
