International Day: Portuguese morning & Plenary afternoon programmes:

Portuguese morning programme: 10.00am Formal opening in Portuguese & English language by Newham resident Faustina da Silva (Angolan). Chair Dr. Olga Barradas (Portugal) invites questions and opinions invited from the audience and also to establish links for future contact 10.10am. warm up session showing ai???YouTubeai??? stories, reading stories and engaging the audience. Include ai???Flor mais linda do mundoai??? for younger children & ai???A Suspeita” for young persons.

10.30am Sylvia Roesch (Brazilian) reading from her new Portuguese and English books ai???O segredo de Franciscoai??? / ai???Frankai??i??s Secretai??? (6-8 years old age group).with the assistance of somebody reading the English version simultaneously i.e. at the same time 10.30am Clara Cabral, reading from her new Portuguese and English bilingual book ai???Lisbon Storyai??? (5-8 years old age group) with the bookai??i??s Slovakian illustrator present, AndreaAi??Lozekova.

 

11.30am Drawing your ai???home village, town or cityai??? with Andrea LozekovaAi??then to participate in a follow-up drawing / crayoning workshop with young people arising from the ai???Lisbon Storyai??? session simultaneously i.e. at the same time 11.30am Faustina da Silvaai??i??s ai???African Kids groupai??? from Manor Park & Salisbury Primary School, Newham for dancing and poetry, who will perform in Portuguese and English

Plenary afternoon programme (all language groups together) in Main Theatre 12.30pm Headteacher welcomes all communities together (Portuguese-speakers joined by Bengalis, English, French, Romanians, Somalis and other groups ) followed by several short performances 12.45pm Ginga De Quilombo capoeira group (Brazil) performance & work-shop with 20 of audience participating; 1.15pm Iroko Theatre performance with children, speech, drama, music, singing.
