On the August Bank Holiday weekend, Brazilian Events UK is launching new club night BOM TEMPO! – an exciting fusion of Brazilian music, dance, food and drink.
Headlining the first Bom Tempo! party is a true legend of the UK’s global music scene. The MR BONGO SOUNDSYSTEM (aka Graham Luckhurst) has been transporting the sound and flavour of Brazil to dance-floors and festivals around the world since the early 90s. Renowned for his iconic and energetic sets, Luckhurst sends the dancefloor into a frenzy with his unique blend of samba, batucada, bossa, forro, funk, hip hop and bass. He hails from the pioneering Mr Bongo record label, which has a recording roster featuring some of the best Brazilian, Latin, reggae, African and Jazz music by artists including Terry Callier, Jorge Ben, Joyce, Seu Jorge, Prince Fatty, Incredible Bongo Band and Marcos Valle.
As part of London’s Movimientos record label and collective, CAL JADER is at the forefront of the Latin underground scene in the UK. Combining classic rhythms with contemporary cutting edge and urban beats, Cal has rocked dancefloors everywhere from Bestival to Mexico City.
Purveyors of disco, soul, funk and all things Brazilian, SAMBA MY ARSE take us on a journey back to Rio circa 1981. Guaranteed to conjure a contagious carnival atmosphere, these boys drop bombs all night long. Kicking off the night will be live music duo SAMBURÁ. The bubbley double act produce a rich, distinctive sound and play an exciting mixture of bossa and samba classics, as well as their own compositions. In addition to the live music and DJs, the Horse & Groom is serving up a special Brazilian barbeque and carnival cocktails.
