“Modinhas and Lundus” explores enticing melodies from the salons of Brazil and Portugal. Described by WilliamBeckford in 1787 as “the most voluptuous and bewitching music that ever existed”, traditional European ariettas merged with the rich African and indigenous Brazilian traditions of voice and dance to become altogether more sensual and seductive. Adding a twist of latin spice, Il Festino brings these love songs and dances up to date with colour, energy and excitement.

Created and directed by Brazilian soprano Gabriela Di Laccio, IL FESTINO was born out of the shared passion of an extremely talented group of musicians who have gained their reputation in the Early Music, Classical and Jazz scenarios. IL FESTINO creates energetic and entertaining performances that bring the cultural heritage of music to life.
