Welcome to AmaZonArt!!!
A new and noble way to make music and generate cultural exchange, social tourism, creative industry and spread human values, serving society via art and solidarity! Thought up by the brazilian musician Diego Carneiro de Oliveira during his teenage years, and founded in November 2009 by him in London, AmaZon Art is an organisation which promotes art, education, and aims for a culture of peace and environmental sustainibility. It stands out because of the creative and beneficial way it spreads and integrates both Brazilian culture and isolated communities in the Amazon with organisations and individuals from other countries who are looking to interact in artistic and social projects.
“Within music I found not just a way to express my deepest feelings, but also an unparalleled transformative force, a unifier of nations…it was at 12 years old when I first came across the ‘cello, and I started to form groups to perform concerts in asylums, orphanages, leper colonies, schools and hospitals… I also want to repay all the help which I have received from patrons and institutions during my time studying and my career… coupled with the fact that I came to meet friends who are like brothers, with which I have built a precious and diverse team which is constantly growing thanks to the talent are charitable heart of each one… Today we are a growing family bound together by a love of art and life, for the sake of beauty and good…this inspires me and makes me feel like I have a mission…” says the founder.
The words Love, Sound, and Art (S symbolises the rivers of the Amazon Rainforest when looked at from above and at the same time the sound of the forest, or the human soul) originates in the English AmaZonArt movement which is broadcast by a network of artists and volunteers from numerous places, having London, Belém (Brazil) and recently Paris as centres. The projects are proposing music performances and lessons, permaculture and therapeutic art for children, young people and adults in areas of difficult access, providing opportunities for access to culture, audience training, in both cities and the river communities which are only accessible by boat. In all, the number of children and young people interacting with AmaZonArt in the cities has reached more than two thousand.
The organisation was awarded prizes by Travel2Change (Austria), The Youth Funding Network (UK) and La Vida (Vital Investment for Development Aid in Latin America, UK) as well as having contact, support and partnership with institutions like Children’s AID, Onda Solidária, Fundação Escola Bosque, ProPaz and others.

The creator: Diego Carneiro
Born in Belém do Pará at 12 years old he became one of the greatest ‘cellist talents in Brazil. He specialised in this instrument but has also studied piano, viola da gamba, composition and conducting in the United States, Germany, Ingland and Switzerland. Winner of numerous contests, he was a soloist in the London Proms in 2005. He participated in a documentary on BBC Radio 4 and has produced his own documentaries. Now he is an ambassador for Brazilian culture, a performer and president of the NGO AmaZonArt and founder of the Carneiro ‘Cello Academy. He worked with the British Council in Brazil, via the “Artists Link” program, and with the Brazilian Embassy in Kenya. Stemming from his artistic and social work with AmaZonArt in Kenya, the government even invited him to take part in the Rio+20 Conference “Defyin Disasters” with UNESCO, which was partnered with the Interamerican Centre for Peace and Security. www.diegocarneiro.com

Um novo e nobre modelo de se fazer música e gerar intercâmbio cultural, turismo social, economia criativa, e difundir valores humanos servindo a sociedade através da arte e da solidariedade! Idealizada pelo músico brasileiro Diego Carneiro de Oliveira quando ainda adolescente, e fundando por ele em Londres em novembro de 2009, AmaZonArt é uma organização que promove arte, educação, voluntariado por uma cultura de paz e sustentabilidade socioambiental. Destaca-se pela maneira criativa e beneficiadora que divulga e integra a cultura brasileira e as comunidades isoladas da Amazônia com entidades e indivíduos de outros países que buscam interagir através de projetos artísticos e sociais.
“Encontrei na música não só um canal de expressão de sentimentos profundos, mas também uma inigualável força transformadora e unificadora de nações… e foi aos 12 anos, quando tive contato com o violoncelo, que comecei a formar grupos para tocar concertos em asilos, orfanatos, leprosários, escolas, e hospitais… minha vontade também é a de retribuir toda ajuda que recebi de mecenas e instituições durante meus estudos e carreira… aliado ao fato que venho encontrando amigos-irmãos que juntos vamos construindo uma equipe preciosa e diversificada que
vem se multiplicando graças ao talento e ao coração caridoso de cada um…hoje somos uma família crescente ligada pelo amor à arte e a vida, em prol do belo e do bem… isso me inspira e sinto-me como em missão…” diz o fundador.
Das palavras Amar, Som, e Arte (S que simbolizam os rios da floresta amazônica visto de cima e ao mesmo tempo Som da floresta, da alma humana) originou-se em Inglês o movimento AmaZonArt que é difundido por uma rede de artistas e voluntários de diversas áreas tendo como polos Londres, Belém (Brasil) e recentemente em Paris. Os projetos têm como propostas levar performances e ensino de música, permacultura e arte terapia para crianças, adolescentes, e adultos em lugares de difícil acesso, oportunizando o acesso à cultura, a formação de plateia, tanto em cidades como em comunidades ribeirinhas acessíveis apenas de barco. No total, o número de crianças e adolescentes em todas as cidades com as quais AmaZonArt interage é superior a 2 mil.

O idealizador: Diego Carneiro
Nasceu em Belém do Pará e aos 12 anos revelou-se um dos maiores talentos brasileiros do violoncelo. Especializou-se neste instrumento, mas também estudou piano, viola da gamba, composição e regência nos Estados Unidos, Alemanha, Inglaterra, Suíça. Venceu diversos concursos e foi solista do London Promenade 2005. Participou de documentário para BBC Radio 4 e produziu seus próprios documentários. Hoje é um embaixador da Cultura Brasileira, concertista e Presidente da ONG AmaZonArt e fundador do Carneiro Cello Academy. Trabalhou com o British Council no Brasil, através do Programa “Artists Link”, e com a Embaixada Brasileira no Quênia. Devido ao seu trabalho artístico e social com AmaZonArt no Quênia, o mesmo governo convidou-o para participar da conferência Rio+20 “Defying Disasters” com Unesco, onde firmou parceria com o Centro Interamericano de Paz e Segurança. www.diegocarneiro.com
