Between 13th and 17th September London will receive the summer 2014 London Fashion Week, one of the four most important fashion weeks in the world, along with Paris, Milan and New York. The event takes place at Somerset House, in the city centre, and has been organised by the British Fashion council since 1984. Amongst the brands featuring on the catwalks of London Fashion Week are: Burberry, Christopher Kane, Erdem, House of Holland, Manolo Blahnik, Mulberry, Vivienne Westwood, Tom Ford, L’Wren Scott, Mary Katrantzou and Marios Schwab. It is estimated that the event will generate about 100 million pounds and is visited by approximately 5,000 people, including buyers and the press. There are 60 shows within the official fashion week program, and another 45 off the schedule. In the showroom will be 120 designers of prêt-à-porter clothing and accesories. Brazilians on the catwalksFernando Jorge The event is divided between catwalks and showrooms, and in this edition there will be Brazilians taking part in both, including within the sponsors. The drinks, nutritious foods and cosmetics brand Beauty’in, created by Cristiana Arcangeli, will sponsor the event for the next three years, and has become the official drink of London Fashion Week. It is the first time that a Brazilian brand will sponsor the event. Within the fashion part, Brazilian presence is again strong within this edition. In the showroom we have designer Fernando Jorge, who will exhibit his jewelry in the East Wing of the Ground Floor. Currently, Fernando’s designs are sold in various points across the UK, France, Italy, Lebanon and the USA. Another launch is the label 1205, by gaucho Paula Gerbase, who will attend Newgen, organised by Topshop to encourage new designers. In the last edition of the event, Paula only showed her collection, with sponsorship from the same project. The catwalk will take place on the Saturday (14th), at 16.30. Barbara Casasola is also debuting, with a catwalk in White Cub Gallery at 20:30 Sunday (15th). Barbara has already worked on major brands such as Roberto Cavalli, Chloé and Lanvin, and now is showing her own designs. Finally, Mato Grosso native Lucas Nascimento will have a catwalk in the Topshop Show Space, on Tuesday (17th) at 17.00. The stylist has taken part in the London event since Winter 2012 and also took part in Fashion Rio three years ago.
