Culturart @ The Brazilian International Press Awards (Focus Brazil)

According to its organizer Carlos Borges, Focus Brazil is “a celebration of over 15 years of the positive projection of Brazil abroad”. The competition, which also takes place in the USA, Japan and Mexico, will host its third edition in the UK, awarding individuals / projects which form part of the Brazilian community and stand out in their given areas. Competition categories include the following: Cinema, Photography, Fine Art, Dance and Folklore, Scenic Art, Literature, Touring Brazilian Shows, Brazilian-UK Singers, UK based duos/trios/ bands, Musicians, DJ, CDs of UK based Brazilian Artists, Community Sports, Cultural Events, Community Events, Institutions which promote Brazilian Culture, Individuals involved in community action and Encouragement in teaching the Portuguese language. Each of these categories has more than 5 nominees, who have been put forward by the community via internet voting. The vote already opened on 1st July, and will continue until 15th August. After voting closes, any ties in results will be analysed to see whether there is a tie breaker in any categories, whereas others will have an outright winner.
Culturart is in fact part of the vote, having been put forward in the categories for ‘Institutions which promote Brazilian Culture’ and as an ‘Institution for Community Action’. SO PLEASE TAKE PART! TAKE A LOOK AT THE NOMINEES AND VOTE! The voting site is: www.pressaward.com/votacao
As well as the awards evening, which takes place on the last day of the event, Focus Brazil 2013 also will host some lectures. The event takes place on the 19th, 20th and 21st September in the Brazilian Embassy and will include panels from various areas of the community.
