Rafael do Santos: standout Brazilian entrepreneur

Last year, Culturart Brazil mentioned Bob Ferraz, a Brazilian whose stand out work earned him second place in one of Google Brazila��s competitions. Right now in London, another great Brazilian is making waves in a project presented by Google UK.

On Monday, 10 February, Brazilian Rafael dos Santos brought together journalists and professionals from the English and Brazilian media to Google Campus for the launch of his latest project: the a�?International Conference for Start-upsa��. He took to the stage dressed as his websitea��s mascot, an astronaut, taking everybody by surprise. What followed was a guiding talk through his work up until now, finishing with an invite to his next event.

The first business he created was a�?London Upa��, a flat-share company in which he was a landlord. He then decided to create a start-up company called a�?Room in the Moona��, aiming to create a social network for people hoping to move country. Carrying this out had its difficulties, and while he was researching he came across a workshop called a�?Start-Up Weekenda�� offered by Google. It was there that he was able to meet other start-up entrepreneurs from different areas. Amongst various projects, his was selected for further development; he gained partnerships and training in pitching, marketing and other business skills. His great idea was born in the right place at the right time. This project paved the way to his book a�?Moving abroad one step at a timea�� and the a�?Room in the Moona�� app, which offers useful, interesting tools for those who want to move country.

During the press and media event, the inspiring Brazilian quickly presented his own work and focused heavily on the a�?International Conference for Start-upsa�� and its goals, making clear that its aim is to nurture new entrepreneurs. The conference will take place on 13 and 14 March in North Greenwich, with more than 15 professionals from the technology, marketing and business sectors.
